A post hoc analysis of SURPASS-CVOT compared a broad composite of cardiovascular and kidney events between tirzepatide and dulaglutide in people with diabetes and established cardiovascular disease. It reported a lower incidence of the composite with tirzepatide and more gastrointestinal adverse events.
How to interpret the findings
Post hoc endpoints are selected after the original trial plan and need different interpretive weight from prespecified primary endpoints. This analysis does not by itself establish a regulatory indication or equal effects on every component of the composite.
