What the research examined
An experiment using transgenic mice investigated vasoactive intestinal peptide, or VIP, in the generation and activity of regulatory T cells. The researchers measured cellular suppression and responses in specific experimental immune models.
How to interpret the findings
These findings do not establish treatment of a broadly defined inflammatory illness in people. An unrelated human imaging observation would not fill that evidence gap, and model-specific immune effects cannot be generalized to every clinical condition.
