What the research examined
A narrative review brings together preclinical mechanisms, clinical observations, and limited controlled evidence about sexual function. Findings differ across settings, and a controlled dulaglutide study discussed in the review did not demonstrate an effect. Proposed hormonal or vascular explanations remain hypotheses where direct evidence is absent.
How to interpret the findings
A narrative review is not a new randomized trial. Differences in underlying conditions, weight change, and concomitant medicines make broad causal claims difficult. Mechanistic plausibility does not resolve conflicting human observations.
