What the research examined
Peptides are chains of amino acids joined by peptide bonds. Their sequence and three-dimensional structure help determine how they interact with other molecules. Some act as biological signals; others have different roles. A shared label does not mean that every peptide has the same properties.
How to interpret the findings
A molecule can be studied in a test tube, in an animal, or in a clinical trial. Those settings answer different questions. Discovering a biological pathway is an early step in understanding it, and a molecular effect does not automatically establish a useful or safe clinical outcome.
